I had booked a car in North Carolina from November 3rd till 5th. It was a prepaid reservation and I paid through expedia. When I returned the car, the gentleman at the counter collected the keys from me. He left the car keys at the top of my bag and went to collect the documents from inside and forgot it there. I rented from Dollar in Denver. The representative didn't say a word about toll roads in Denver and two different options I had. Three months after my rental, I get a notice about 4 tolls totaling $14.00 and penalties totaling $60.00! It's nothing but another way to make more money. A scam. Apparently, the best way to combat this is to purchase something from the state to stick on your car, but who would know to do that? Not me. Read more

The clerk was very rude. When we did not want the insurance, she got worse and bluntly explained that she had 6 years of experience and would know. We commented that we had been renting cars for 40 and might also know a thing or two. When we asked about Tolls she said don't worry about it. Dollar is worst car rental place I EVER dealt with my team made a reservation and confirmed pick up by 10pm Friday 11/18/16 arrived at 9:20 and they had closed . Guard said they left at 6pm called customer service and they could not get us a car! Left stranded !! Customer service on Monday said no signed contract no compensation! They suck!!

This is a horrible company! NEVER USE THIS COMPANY. we went on vacation and i had already made the reservation for the car well right before we left i got hurt and couldnt driver. Instead of switching drivers for free they charged me 52 dollars for 3 days. Plus when they tell you the will gas up the car they dont tell you about the hinden fees involved. I spent 200 for 3 days. I have purchased a pre-paid 6 days for renting a car at Dollar at Phoenix Airport, AZ. When I went to get the car, the attendant wanted to make me pay double of value already paid for a insurance package (which in the contract was optional). The worst service ever. I travel a lot and and usually have 1-2 rentals a month from other providers and never ever had a problem. I got cheaper quote from Dollar Rent a Car and wanted to try their services. Oh GOD, the worst experience ever. Worst ever experience. Very slow moving kept waiting for long. less attending staff. They steal your money without knowing you. I was charged an extra 80$ for no reason. I opted out for extra coverage, which my insurance covers it, and got the quote for 105$ from priceline. Dollar is horrible. Our credit card strip was worn out and wouldn't swipe and therefore they have no way of processing credit cards. No chip reader that they know of, that is an exact quote. Also did not know how to enter card by hand. This is LAX location. #utterlyshocked
