Verified Reviewer |I can never get a live person.....i even tried their chat and they couldnt get a live person from dollar.
Their cancellation policy requires 48 hours' notice to change a pickup, but I haven't been able to reach anyone despite my efforts. I've tried calling these numbers multiple times: (888) 333-****, (866) 434-****, and the local Dollar desk at Fresno Airport (559) 251-****.
Even the chat representative tried those numbers without success.
I've attached the chat transcript from tonight as evidence. Please excuse any typos or grammatical errors...I was frustrated.

Paid for my rental weeks in advance got to the airport to pick up. The car was charged again for the rental plus another $500 for using my debit card.
Almost $1000 to start a family vacation. What a joke!!!

Arrived at Chicago airport and they changed the rates and jacked up the price when I arrived at the counter. Never had that happen before, in addition they charged me twice for the same rental with a $500 security deposit twice and Ive not tied up $1700 of my money for a $277 rental including tax after making several attempts to contact dollar Rent-A-Car via phone, I found out that its nearly impossible. I urge everybody to avoid dollar like the plague, and I will share this with as many people as I know and publish it aggressively on social media unless they contact me and resolve the issue.

First, this is my second review for Oxnard Airport. Last yr was my first time and rented from my priceline account.
They did not have a reservation for me, regardless of screenshot. I was told it's on me. Dollar guy said priceline does not always show. He said rent on Dollar site, and call and confirm sameday.
I posted on this site my review. The 2nd time was good, as the owner was there. I did ho in and update with a positive experience. 2025, the third time, and I have been overcharged again.
My rsvp was made with a charge of $66.76, and then when I brought the car back, Henry said no, it was $34 a day. I questioned the bill, and he said he gave me a free upgrade. I got a toyota corola. No where did I need nor want a fake upgrade.
I have all the documentation and do not want to go through my bank. Unfortunately, I did go through my bank to right the wrong. The $82.00 charge was credited and was resolved with a $15 dollar credit. I can't wrap my head around why the overcharge again.
Double-check all the small print. When I had to call CS, they said they could see the issue, but this dollar is a franchise, so they said to call out to the franchise owner.

My issue is not resolved, Priceline charged me then dollar charged me. Spoke to a rep and was told they would reach out to dollar so i could get my refund and yet have I heard from Priceline Im very upset

I have a feeling that i got charged twice for my Dollar car rent.
On april the 9th, i booked a car from your webpage from 10th to 22nd april (booking reference nr: US16707****, confirmation nr L187083****) and I was charged 370.01USD for that. Seconds later i wanted to change my reservation period to 16-22 april (new reference nr US16708****).
New rental period cost was 230.77usd, changing fee was 60..something and amendable sum was 75.24usd.
On april the 16th i went to your Dollar office and they charged me 722usd (500 deposit and 221.74 for the car rent), rental record nr. 83257****.
Once i returned the car on 22nd, couple of days later i received my 500usd deposit back.
The problem, however, is with the firstly paid sums which i paid on 9th april. I havent received that amendable 75.24 back nor 230.77usd back.
Question - what should we do to get those overpaid first sums back?

Back in 11/2024 I rented a suv for three weeks through booking group/ affirm. Booking group is connecting with Dollar car rental.
When I rented the suv, I had to used my credit card as hold until I returned suv to Dollar car rental.
I noticed on my credit card that Dollar charged the full amount on my credit card instead charging the amount to booking group. As of now, booking group is telling me that I owed them the full amount.
In 11/2024, I booked a rental through Booking Group/Affirm. However, Dollar Car Rental charged the full amount on my credit card.
I called Booking Group and Affirm.
They told me I still owed them. Booking number B7137****.

Hello, I was charged a Damage Waiver fee of 174.95 on 10/29/2024. This is for Trip Id: 6537-****.
My confirmation number is L020474****. I have a Pre rental damage report #42272****from Unit #141**** pre rental damage report. The vehicle was damaged in multiple areas before I left the lot. I have a photocopy of the report.
Please reverse this fee.

Overcharged and Finessed
They need to better explain all the charges and not add other charges in an effort to get a customer to upgrade to a new bigger vehicle bad customer service and never received my deposit after returning the vehicle in the same condition as I received it

I rented a car to visit family around Christmas. The car wouldn't start on the third day of the rental, a Sunday afternoon, due to a dead battery.
I was stranded at my hotel, so I called their roadside assistance. After waiting over an hour, the service tech came and jump-started the battery, but he said it was very drained and might not start the following morning when I had a returning flight. I called customer service again, and they said I had to return it to the airport for an exchange or take it to a shop for a repair (none were open on a Sunday evening). My only option was to exchange it, so I wouldn't risk missing my flight.
The airport was almost an hour from my hotel.
When I arrived there, they seemed annoyed, and I waited about 30 minutes for a replacement vehicle. All in all, it took about six to seven hours away from my visit with my family from the time it wouldn't start until I returned to my hotel, and they did not offer me anything for my trouble.
Preferred solution: Full refund

My rental smelled like smoke and had a service needed warning. Tried to call about swapping the car here in Montgomery, AL after renting in Atlanta.
No one would answer my calls. Finally drive 25 miles to the Montgomery airport and was told Dollar had no vehicles to swap for me.
Horrible customer service. Will not rent from again
M’y $500 deposit still hasn’t returned to my bank account.
My $500 car deposit was not released yet. Its been 48hr. I called my bank and they said it was Dollar who hasnt released it

I booked a car online at Charlotte international airport in NC.
when I went to get the car they lied and told me they did not have a car available and tried to upsell me on a different car for an extra $300. They then tried to give me an electric car, but told me I would be charged for additional coverage for insurance.
Then they lied again and said it was booked as a manager special and they give you the car they choose for you that it doesnt matter what you actually book online. That made no sense.
Then they had car that I had originally booked and then tried to charge me even more fees. Everything this girl said it was an absolute lie. Everything that came out of her mouth was a lie.
It was *** It was a rip off. She should be fired.
The guy should be fired. Your company should go in the *** trash.
