I thought the Dollar Car Rental "Lock Low & Go" option might be a good way to get a nice upgrade on the car type, but it's a bad idea.Don't select this option, unless you are ready to accept something you may not like.
I had hoped to be upgraded from a compact to perhaps a midsized. Let me tell you if they had trucks on the lot, that's what you would probably end up getting. You basically get the slowest moving vehicle size/type they have in their lot. If you are looking for a big mini-van, that gets no better than 20 miles to the gallon, then that's what you will probably get.
The only choice they gave me with the "Lock Low & Go rate was a huge mini-van. I was traveling alone and had one bag. The last vehicle I wanted was a mini-van. I would have been might better off selecting the compact car for the same price.
The customer service attendant basically said tough luck.
It's a mini-van or a mini-van.
The Lock Low & Go" Dollar Rent a Car is a bad deal.Don't sign up for this type of rental car, unless you want a vehicle you most likely won't like.
