Got a flat tire. Dollar made me drive wit tow truck driver to airport, didn't have a new car waiting for me.
Gave me a 4 door sedan instead of SUV I originally rented. Didn't discount the sedan price. Asked for discount. They said I received one at beginning of rental.
I want at the least a $200.00 refund back on my original payment method.

1st time they charged me @$225 for a 1 day $50 rental because someone didnt notice the fuel had been prepaid. Overcharge about $180.
Now just last week they did same thing, charged me $216 for a 1 day $37 rental. Ive contacted them multiple times, had manager at lication contact them and now even my credit card is contacting them but no response to these over charges of about $360.

Hello, I reserved a car by QEEQ.com, Booking Reference Number: 6768****, Main driver's name Maciej Jakubowski, Car Supplier Dollar, Confirmation No. L125150****, Pick up on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at 6:00 PM Chicago O'Hare Airport.
I would like to change it to 7:30 PM due to a change in flight time. Drop off on Saturday, July 12, 2025, at 5:00 PM Miami International Airport; I would like to change it to 6:00 PM due to a change in flight time. Unfortunately, I don't have a Dollar confirmation number.

Verified Reviewer |Unethical Billing Practice for Tolls
I recently rented a car from Dollar Car Rental at Buffalo Niagara International Airport and was hit with an undisclosed $139.95 fee from PlatePass after the rental period ended. Unfortunately, this experience has left me deeply disappointed with both companies, and I want to warn others about their unethical practices.
When my wife and I picked up the car, the EZ-Pass transponder was already open and active, and we were given no information at the rental desk about optional toll services like PlatePass. As tourists from a city without toll roads, we reasonably assumed the transponder was part of the service. At no point were we informed that using the transponder would automatically enroll us in a $139.95 PlatePass All-Inclusive package.
After returning home, Dollar and PlatePass attempted to charge my credit card, but the transaction was flagged as potential fraud. When I contacted them, they acknowledged that the fees were not clearly explained at pickup and offered only a partial fee reduction, still expecting me to pay administrative charges I never knowingly opted into.
The transponder was pre-activated when we got in the vehicle. We never had a chance to opt in or out. Even if the terms were buried in a lengthy rental contract, it is unreasonable to expect customers to comb through fine print for such critical information. It is clear that Dollar and PlatePass use this hidden-fee tactic to generate revenue at the expense of unsuspecting customers.
If you are planning to rent from Dollar or any company partnered with PlatePass, be extremely careful. Check the transponder before driving off and ask detailed questions about their toll policy.
I hope Dollar and PlatePass address this deceptive practice. But as it stands, I will not be using their services again and strongly recommend renters consider other options to avoid similar issues. To be clear, Dollar, Thrifty, and Hertz are all owned by the same company.
In 2011, a class action lawsuit was filed against Hertz, Dollar, Thrifty, and their partner PlatePass over allegations of undisclosed and misleading toll-related fees. Customers reported being charged excessive administrative fees without proper disclosure, and some were enrolled in toll programs without their knowledge or consent.
The legal proceedings culminated in settlements between 2014 and 2019. Hertz agreed to an $11 million settlement to address complaints that it had charged customers without sufficient notice about the PlatePass fees. Dollar and Thrifty faced similar legal challenges.
These cases highlight a pattern of complaints about the lack of transparency in toll-related programs offered by the Hertz Corporation. Be warned. Better yet, choose another rental company.

I emailed dollar car rental customer service. No response from them yet. Its been 10 days.
Dollar car rental has no cars. So Im Waiting for return cars to come in. My wait time is about a hour. What makes me dissatisfied with this rental company.
I did a pre-check in. I did my part to make check in go faster. But dollar rental couldn't even reach out to me and let me know of the situation. Don't even bother with customer service to complain.
What a joke ! You can't talk to a live person. And the person on the other end of the phone. I could barely make out what was being said.
I was given a email to complain. Just don't bother renting at this establishment.

Verified Reviewer |I can never get a live person.....i even tried their chat and they couldnt get a live person from dollar.
Their cancellation policy requires 48 hours' notice to change a pickup, but I haven't been able to reach anyone despite my efforts. I've tried calling these numbers multiple times: (888) 333-****, (866) 434-****, and the local Dollar desk at Fresno Airport (559) 251-****.
Even the chat representative tried those numbers without success.
I've attached the chat transcript from tonight as evidence. Please excuse any typos or grammatical errors...I was frustrated.

Paid for my rental weeks in advance got to the airport to pick up. The car was charged again for the rental plus another $500 for using my debit card.
Almost $1000 to start a family vacation. What a joke!!!

Arrived at Chicago airport and they changed the rates and jacked up the price when I arrived at the counter. Never had that happen before, in addition they charged me twice for the same rental with a $500 security deposit twice and Ive not tied up $1700 of my money for a $277 rental including tax after making several attempts to contact dollar Rent-A-Car via phone, I found out that its nearly impossible. I urge everybody to avoid dollar like the plague, and I will share this with as many people as I know and publish it aggressively on social media unless they contact me and resolve the issue.

First, this is my second review for Oxnard Airport. Last yr was my first time and rented from my priceline account.
They did not have a reservation for me, regardless of screenshot. I was told it's on me. Dollar guy said priceline does not always show. He said rent on Dollar site, and call and confirm sameday.
I posted on this site my review. The 2nd time was good, as the owner was there. I did ho in and update with a positive experience. 2025, the third time, and I have been overcharged again.
My rsvp was made with a charge of $66.76, and then when I brought the car back, Henry said no, it was $34 a day. I questioned the bill, and he said he gave me a free upgrade. I got a toyota corola. No where did I need nor want a fake upgrade.
I have all the documentation and do not want to go through my bank. Unfortunately, I did go through my bank to right the wrong. The $82.00 charge was credited and was resolved with a $15 dollar credit. I can't wrap my head around why the overcharge again.
Double-check all the small print. When I had to call CS, they said they could see the issue, but this dollar is a franchise, so they said to call out to the franchise owner.

Dollar changed the rates when I got to the airport which is totally unethical and then they charge me twice for the same rental including two $500 security deposit. Totally unacceptable after multiple attempts to try to reach him via phone.

I have a feeling that i got charged twice for my Dollar car rent.
On april the 9th, i booked a car from your webpage from 10th to 22nd april (booking reference nr: US16707****, confirmation nr L187083****) and I was charged 370.01USD for that. Seconds later i wanted to change my reservation period to 16-22 april (new reference nr US16708****).
New rental period cost was 230.77usd, changing fee was 60..something and amendable sum was 75.24usd.
On april the 16th i went to your Dollar office and they charged me 722usd (500 deposit and 221.74 for the car rent), rental record nr. 83257****.
Once i returned the car on 22nd, couple of days later i received my 500usd deposit back.
The problem, however, is with the firstly paid sums which i paid on 9th april. I havent received that amendable 75.24 back nor 230.77usd back.
Question - what should we do to get those overpaid first sums back?
